JR Merit Welcomes New Team Members in Fall 2022
The air is getting crisper, and JR Merit continues to grow
our incredible team. In the last few months, we’ve welcomed five new hires!
Project Engineer and Estimator Cameron Thompson joined us in July, followed by Systems Administrator Darrin Jordan and Project Engineer Derek Powers in August. We welcomed Project Engineer Kat Conell in September, and Field Superintendent Steven Graves joined us last week in early October!
Cameron Thompson, Project Engineer and Estimator: Cameron brings 15 years’ experience in metal fabrication, with six years focused on manufacturing sector process engineering and project management. Self-described as reliable, efficient, and focused, Cameron is driven by improving quality and increasing efficiency for meaningful work. When Cameron isn’t working, you can find him playing music, designing furniture, cooking, or working in his shop. He’s a guitarist in a band called Papas Famosas!
Darrin Jordan, Systems Administrator: Darrin has 22 years of IT experience and a diverse background working in many different IT capacities, giving him the knowledge and tools to tackle any IT challenge and question that comes his way. Self-described as levelheaded, open-minded, focused, and resourceful, Darrin brings a fresh look at IT and technology to our company. In his free time, he is a faithful Florida Gators and Tampa Bay Buccs fan, and enjoys playing guitar, smoking meat, and spending time with his family. He also grew up raising cattle for local fairs!
Derek Powers, Project Engineer: Derek launched his career in construction with us, bringing three years of internship experience, including pipefitting and project management. Derek has a degree in Materials Science Engineering from the University of Idaho. Self-described as driven, efficient, responsive, and integrous, Derek is growing his skillset in his new role. Outside of work, Derek enjoys soccer, football, snowboarding, golf, and hanging out with his dog, Stout. He aims to visit all seven continents by the time he’s 30!
Kat Conell, Project Engineer: Kat brings past experience as a project engineer supporting a variety of project types, including concrete, structural steel, and large general contracting jobs. She also has experience with multiple project management platforms and an expert-level knowledge of Excel! Self-described as honest, open, proud, and meticulous, Kat understands the need for excellent and transparent communication. When she isn’t working, she enjoys reading, Marvel and DC comics, and spending time with her partner and their two cats, Charlie and Kita. She danced ballet from the age of three until she was 19!
Steven Graves, Field Superintendent: Steven brings a wealth of experience in industrial construction, including welding, fabrication, and machine installation, as well as familiarity with pulp and paper, grain elevators, steel mills, and power plants. Self-described as punctual, reliable, knowledgeable, and honest, Steven is looking forward to helping expand our business opportunities. In his free time, he enjoys football, hunting, golfing, and spending time with his family. He used to race motocross!
