We’re so proud of our team; they make the difference in
everything we do. This year, we’re recognizing and celebrating our people with
a monthly spotlight that gives a little more insight into the individuals that
make up the JR Merit Family.
Jeremy is a laborer foreman supporting a wide variety of JR Merit projects, including food and beverage processing facilities and industrial manufacturing environments, hydroelectric refurbishment projects, and readying several parks and recreation facilities associated with the hydroelectric dams in Washington.
“What I’m working on changes every day. Sometimes it’s a different job every day or a week or two at one place. For example, these past couple of weeks, I’ve been helping out in the shop, helping run a graphic packaging job. I like the variety of places we go to on an everyday basis. I love being out in the wilderness, getting parks ready to open to the public.
We laborers dabble in everything and help out on all of JR Merit’s projects. Wherever they need me, I end up!”
Before getting into construction, Jeremy was in the military for a short while then spent 10 years in the food and beverage industry. He started out as a merchandiser and moved his way up into a sales position, honing his skills working with customers. Eventually he was looking for a change and was introduced to construction by a neighbor. Jeremy became a union laborer and has been with JR Merit ever since! His customer service experience serves him well in this work. “I’m a people person and I enjoy talking with clients and my teams.”
Jeremy enjoys the completely different experience that his construction career has given him, and the fact that he gets to see and work on a variety of things in his role. It’s a learning experience every day to understand each project, which can sometimes be challenging. “But you learn something new every day.”
Jeremy really enjoys the people he works with and for at JR Merit. Making work as fun as possible while getting the job done well is what he likes best. “Bobby Coffland took me under his wing to train me. He’s the jokester of the clan, and he’s always making it fun. Especially when work can get stressful, he lightens the mood and morale.”
Jeremy is looking forward to helping JR Merit grow and being part of meeting our goals over the next several years.
Outside of work, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family, including his two sons and his dog Peanut. “That little dog is my right-hand man! He’s part human, based on how he acts.” Jeremy is an avid fan of basketball and football, going to concerts, and dancing. I’ll dance by myself, I don’t care.”
Jeremy, thank you for all that you do. We see the value you bring to your team and your clients, and we’re grateful. Keep it up, and keep on dancing. We’ll be watching (or not!)
